Recently I was asked to facilitate a Strategic Planning session for a large technology company that is selling to the Federal government. This book was the answer to my dreams. In very clear and direct terms it gives you the step by step process for the preparation and delivery of the actual session. It does a great job of explaining the rationale for the sequence of activities and it spends time to explain the often confusing terminology that surrounds this process. Michael Wilkinson presents the content from a very practical perspective since he has learned the best way to deliver this material by actually conducting real sessions. In other words he is a very experienced practitioner that "walks the talk". I believe that this process will ensure that you will end up with a very good plan even if you are not a world class facilitator. Buy this book......it is a great reference tool!

I have read this wonderful book, feeling very satisfied.
Michael make a perfect combination of strategy and facilitation, both functional and easy to operate.
In particular, construct models of Visual effects, and easy to understand.

Excellent book, if you are looking for a robust framework to lead your team through a planning session. Its full of useful information as well as usable recommendations.
Solid tool. Useful practical insight. Effective tool and explanation of the process are clearly outlined.
This is a great book on strategic planning, with a clear, usable model and process to achieve results. Michael's method is also very useful for project planning, to help ensure project alignment and buy-in. I especially like the detailed step by step approaches to create elements of the plan, and the facilitation considerations to achieve them. Highly recommended.
I've been in the management field for 30 plus years, and gone through various planning exercises, both as participant and driver. In this book he author clearly lays out the cleanest and yet most comprehensive planning process I've come across. Perhaps more important is the final chapter which focuses on successful execution. This book is worth your time.
